·       Other information you choose to provide when contacting us

When you use our website, we may also collect limited technical information, such as your IP address, browser type and website usage information, through website analytics or similar tools. We only collect information reasonably necessary for our business activities.

HOW DO WE COLLECT YOUR INFORMATION?

We may collect your personal information when you:

·                Submit an enquiry through our website

·                Contact us by phone, email, text, social media or in person

·                Request a quote, or book or receive our services

·                Communicate with us about an existing job or account

We normally collect personal information directly from you. Where permitted by the Privacy Act 2020, we may also receive information from a landlord, property manager, builder, contractor or another person arranging work on your behalf.

If we collect your information from someone else, we will take reasonable steps to make you aware of the collection as soon as reasonably practicable, unless an exception under the Act applies or the required notification has already been provided. This includes explaining the purpose, intended recipients, the name and address of the agencies collecting and holding the information, any law requiring or authorising its collection, and your access and correction rights.

‍ ‍

WHY DO WE COLLECT YOUR INFORMATION?

We collect and use your personal information to:

·                Respond to your enquiries and provide quotes and estimates

·                Schedule and carry out plumbing and maintenance services

·                Contact you about your booking, job or work being carried out

·                Send invoices and process payments

We use your information for the purpose for which it was collected, a directly related purpose, or another purpose permitted by the Privacy Act 2020.

We do not send marketing emails, newsletters or promotional offers. Our customer communications relate to enquiries, quotes, bookings, services, invoices and other necessary job or account matters.

‍

WHO MAY WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION WITH?

We will not sell or rent your personal information. Where necessary for the purposes described in this policy, information may be accessed by or shared with service providers who assist us with:

·                Website hosting and website services

·                Business email and communications

·                Accounting, invoicing, payments and job management

·                IT and data storage

·                Completing your job, including other contractors where necessary

We use Xero for accounting and invoicing, and Fergus for job management. Customer contact details, property addresses, quotes, job records, invoices and related information may be stored and processed through these platforms as needed for those purposes.

We may also disclose information where required or authorised by law. We limit sharing to information necessary for the relevant purpose and take reasonable steps to ensure that providers handling information on our behalf protect it appropriately.

OVERSEAS STORAGE AND PROCESSING

Some service providers may store or process personal information outside New Zealand. Where a provider acts solely on our behalf and does not use or disclose that information for its own purposes, we remain responsible for the information under the Privacy Act 2020.

Where an overseas transfer is a disclosure to which Information Privacy Principle 12 applies, we will ensure that a permitted basis exists, such as reasonable grounds to believe that comparable privacy safeguards apply. Use of a cloud service or publication of this policy does not itself establish that basis.

HOW DO WE PROTECT YOUR INFORMATION?

We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from loss, misuse, unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration or destruction. We use appropriate physical, electronic and administrative safeguards depending on the type of information and how it is stored.

However, no method of storing or transmitting information online can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

PRIVACY BREACHES

‍If a privacy breach occurs, we will take steps to contain it, assess the risk of harm and reduce its effects. Where a breach has caused, or is likely to cause, serious harm, we will notify the Privacy Commissioner and affected individuals as soon as practicable, subject to any exceptions or permitted delays under the Privacy Act 2020.

‍HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION?

We keep personal information only for as long as it is required for a lawful purpose for which it may be used, including applicable legal, accounting and business record-keeping requirements.

When information is no longer required, we will take reasonable steps to securely delete or dispose of it.

‍ ‍

YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS

Under the Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to request access to personal information we hold about you and to ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete. Please contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before providing access.

We will respond to access and correction requests as soon as reasonably practicable and within 20 working days, unless a lawful extension applies. If we extend the time, we will tell you why and when you can expect a response. If access is granted, we will provide the information without undue delay.

If we decline a request, we will explain our reasons and your complaint rights. If we do not make a correction you request, you may ask us to attach a statement of the correction sought. We will take the steps required by the Act to ensure that statement is read with the information.

We take reasonable steps to ensure information is accurate, up to date, complete, relevant and not misleading before using or disclosing it. Please let us know if your details change.

‍ ‍

PROVIDING YOUR INFORMATION

Providing personal information is generally voluntary. However, if you choose not to provide information we reasonably need, we may be unable to respond to your enquiry, provide a quote or deliver the requested service. If a particular collection is required by law, we will explain that requirement.‍
